You were crying your eyes out. You had your face buried in my chest; You muttered words I couldn’t understand. You were trying to speak but you could hardly catch your breath. It was as if you had just ran a marathon. If our love was a race, you never tried. But now you’re here, and you’re trying and trying and trying, but your time is up. The race was long over. You held my hand and pleaded for me to stay. But all I could do was stare at your bloodshot eyes and wonder why I didn’t feel the same.
